My name is John Skuja, I have lived between Bulli and Coledale for almost 10 years and am a keen surfer and photographer. A few years ago I decided to combine my passions and started exploring the possibilities of water based photography. This website is a showcase of my efforts. Now when a swell comes I love to be out there capturing it on pixels, usually after catching a few waves first
It is difficult to capture the feeling the ocean gives me. Immersion in the cold but welcoming embrace of the living ocean is an important part of my life. My ocean pictures give a glimpse of that world and I hope that people who see them can share that sense of wonder.
I shoot ocean wave and surfing photos at Stanwell Park, Wombarra, Coledale, Sharkies, Headies, Little Austi, Austinmer Beach, Thirroul, McCauleys and Sandon Point. I occasionally wander down to take photos at Wollongong, Shitties and Aussie Pipe.
I use a Canon EOS 50D DSLR with either a Canon 17-40mm or 10-20mm lens in an Aquatech housing.

There is alot of pleasure to be gained from getting a good photo of yourself in what is no doubt one of your favourite places. It is also important for up and coming grommets who are seeking or promoting sponsors to get good close up water based shots. If you are interested in getting water based photos of yourself surfing then you shold contact me to arrange a session. This is swell dependent of course but I have a reasonably flexible time table.
