Strong South
Thursday, October 8th, 2009 | Uncategorized | No Comments

There was some pretty wild swell on offer on Thursday. The lines were straight and of a strong southerly origin so not wrapping around The Point so well. But some were lining up OK with a bit of a wonk.

The main problem was the extreme 40 knot winds. It was best at dawn and then at midday there were some running from the boat sheds towards Southies…There were some takers all day but best to wait for things to settle down a bit – there is a lot of promise for the next few days…

Octoberfest…

The long weekend turned on some swell almost unexpectedly.. Saturday morning was probably the best, before the holiday crowds truly came out in force. There were 3ft slightly wonky lines from the SE with the occasional one lining up nicely down the point.

The waves persisted into Sunday but the crowd factor was a bit worse as word was out…
The waves were a bit smaller but still plenty of fun to be had…
There is a bit of activity in the atmsphere with storms and hail predicted and a new low pressure system forming in the the Tasman that offer a bit of promise…
