Another Cracker Sunrise…

…for those up early enough to enjoy it. Which was mostly just the bunnies down at the point and the occasional dog walker, jogger and early surf checker.
The wind is puffing from the north which opens a couple of surf options but there is very little swell to speak of. The BOM is saying things will clear up and warm up over the next few days with a sunny warm one predicted for the Sydney to Gong bike ride on Sunday…

Unsettled…

Well, the great start to October gave way to the usual spring small onshore conditions. It has been good to get some rain and good to get some things done, like the almost late tax return, without the distraction of swell.

There was a fantastic sunrise this morning for those up early enough to enjoy it, though looks like it will be grey for the rest of the day and much of the week. The ocean is pretty uninviting, not only are the waves mush but they are also full of bluebottles….
Here’s another sunrise shot from a week or two ago….

The last two days have seen some great waves. On Sunday the previous south swell persisted and became more south east and size stayed around 3-4 foot. The places where it was breaking were strangely devoid of the usual weekend crowds with only a dozen or so guys.

Some fresh offshores were blowing Monday morning grooming the consistent 10 second period lines into near perfection. The scant early crew saw the best of it…

There were line ups galore around the place though the swell faded through the morning and the Nor’easter started to lump things up. So far October really turns it on!!

Not worth a sickie…

The swell had backed off a bit since yesterday but so had the winds. The early session saw some OK clean walls wrapping down the point – as there was a touch more east in the swell. There were plenty of guys in the water and before it turned off late morning there were plenty of waves. Around midday the wind started to howl from the south getting up to 30 knots plus through the afternoon but there were still plenty of guys keen for their share. There won’t be much left for the weekend.
