Tail end
Saturday, November 22nd, 2008 | Uncategorized | No Comments
Due to the severe swell drought through most of October and November ( other than the notable exception of the 6th November as documented below), when ENE swell arrived on the the 20th November I was so hungry for waves that I only managed to get out with the camera on the tail end of the swell when it had dropped to a clean 2-3 foot. A bit unfortunate as all the local beachies were firing with reports of barrels being scored from Macca’s to Scarby. So the pics are not truly representative of the epic-ness of the swell, at all.

A picture of classic Sharkies with me in the water shooting Steve’s barrel sequence ( as seen being lined up in the previous post) . Thanks to Chris Thorn for the photo.

Finally some swell arrived this morning and all the elements aligned. Clean lines from the south east and westerlies that didn’t swing to the north until quite late in the morning. A beautiful sunny day and the water temp a not so chilly 19 degrees. It was all pretty perfect except that it had been well predicted by the forecasting sites so there were plenty of hungry surfers in the water – breaking the fast…. After a month of nothing much at all, we have had a couple of days of south, moving to south east swell with favourable west to north-west winds in the morning… This produced some great conditions for the swell starved surfers of the east coast of Australia. Stay tuned for some pictures…
